As part of a series of art installations for the Pueblo Colorado retreat center, we devised a concept to transform a standard above-ground swimming pool into a spectacular Yellow Submarine themed sculpture, inspired by the synonymous Beatles song and psychedelic music video.  Adding the spectacular view of the main building and dining area of the retreat it offers a playful alternative to an expensive below ground swimming pool providing an economical unique way to make magic out of a common fabric lined economical swimming pool.  Every detail invites reflection and creative escape from the submarine's bright yellow color to the porthole windows with caricatures of the Beatles gazing out into the ocean.  A giant squid, its tentacles intimately entwined around the submarine seems to have grasped the vessel in a playful embrace, gazing back at guests and pool occupants with a mysterious and yet benevolent expression.  Inside the submarine's tail are housed the electrics, the pumps and all the mechanicals of the swimming pool including a storage room for nets, filters and pool toys.  Multi color LED lighting transforms it into a magical spectacle even at night.
